Are you Ready?

Recent surveys find that one of the most common fears among retirement age people is outliving their savings and investments. In this day and age, someone who retires at 65 may live to be 90 or older. Coupled with a social security system, the future of which is sketchy at best, are you ready to stretch your savings and investments out for 25 – 30 years or longer? As difficult a task as this is, imagine what will happen if you or your spouse require extended nursing care which may cost in the realm of $4,000.00 to $12,000.00 per month (today’s standards). The costs will substantially increase 20 years from now. At this rate, a nest egg of $250,000.00 may be gone in a short couple of years, leaving you or your spouse to outlive one another with far less money than you had ever imagined. If you are planning to leave your estate to a loved one, you may want to consider not only how to get there (retirement), but also how to prepare in order so that you and or your spouse don’t outlive your retirement savings or have your life’s savings swallowed up by a lengthy and unexpected (should it be unexpected?) Illness or Probate costs. Annuities and Long Term Care Insurance are two of the safest ways in which you can protect what you have worked so long and hard to build for, your legacy, for you and your loved ones.
